About Us
Our Story - Hammerdown MinistriesHammerdown Ministries was born out of a burden to reach those struggling with drug and alcohol addiction through the life-changing power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. On October 6, 2021, what began as a simple addiction recovery meeting in Lugoff, South Carolina, soon became something much greater. Through these meetings, God began opening doors, changing lives, and revealing His plan for what would eventually become Hammerdown Ministries.Having personally experienced the bondage of addiction and the transforming power of Jesus Christ, Hunter Dease developed a deep burden to help others find the same hope, freedom, and restoration that he had found in Christ. On October 4, 2024, Hunter took a tremendous step of faith by leaving his secular employment and entering full-time ministry as the Program Director of Hammerdown Ministries. Today, he serves as the Executive Director of Hammerdown Ministries and Pastor of Hilltop Baptist Church, faithfully leading the ministry with a continued commitment to reaching men battling addiction and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.Alongside him is his wife, Brittany, and their four children, Braylen, Ashton, Hayden, and Gracie, who have played an important role in supporting the work of the ministry and sharing in the sacrifices that come with serving the Lord. What began as a weekly meeting has grown into a residential, faith-based recovery ministry dedicated to helping men rebuild their lives on the foundation of God's Word.At Hammerdown Ministries, we believe that no life is beyond the reach of God's grace. Every man who walks through our doors is met with love, mercy, and compassion. Most importantly, he is introduced to the One who can truly change his life Jesus Christ. Our mission is simple: To give men the Gospel, guide them in godly character, and teach them the value of honest work.We are not simply seeking to help men overcome addiction. We are seeking to see lives transformed, families restored, and souls saved for the glory of God.If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. John 8:36 (KJV)
Our Work
The primary mission of Hammerdown Ministries is to provide men with a place where they can hear and embrace the Gospel. This is accomplished through various avenues, including attending church three times a week, participating in daily Bible studies, and working through the Hope4Addictions curriculum (hope4addictions.com).Beyond spiritual growth, the men are equipped with essential life skills, from cooking and cleaning to learning various trades. We also assist with obtaining driver’s licenses and addressing any court-related matters. Faith-based counseling is available not only for the men but also for their families, ensuring holistic support.During their 6-12 month stay at our facility, we prepare these men to successfully re-enter their communities with the tools they need to lead productive lives. As a charitable non-profit, Hammerdown Ministries operates solely on donations, which cover all expenses and make this life-changing program possible.
